Hog Roast Lanivet – An awards ceremony with award-winning food

Hog Roast Lanivet is often to cater private parties, including wedding receptions, birthday celebrations and christenings, to name but a few, but we’re also frequently asked to cater corporate functions too, such as networking events, staff training programmes and conferences, and so much more. Whatever you’re planning for your own business or on behalf of the business that you work for, our catering can easily be adapted to fit your requirements, as our experienced and highly-trained team members are more than capable of providing fresh, tasty, homemade food for both large and small-scale events, with either small groups of people or hundreds of guests, and in just about any location that you can imagine.

Hog Roast LanivetWhen Giles booked Hog Roast Lanivet to cater an awards evening for his business recently, he knew he wanted it to feature one of our traditional centrepiece hog roasts, as he has enjoyed one himself on various occasions in the past. Nevertheless, he wanted to make sure that everyone invited was able to enjoy our delicious food, including those with dietary requirements and those who preferred to eat a different meat. With several vegetarians invited and several guests preferring a poultry dish, Giles also asked us to make our lovely halloumi and veg skewers and spit-roasted chickens, as well as additional dishes of coleslaw, sweet potato wedges with a kick and corn cobettes.

On the day of the awards ceremony, our Hog Roast Lanivet chef and catering assistants made their way to the venue, a four-star hotel with impressive grounds, and the first order of the day was preparing the local hog by scoring it, adding plenty of water and then massaging in lots of salt (which makes the crispy crackling). Soon after, it was sizzling away outside for hours on end, slowly but surely.

Sometime later, it was time to prep and cook the locally-sourced chickens, then the wedges, corn cobettes and skewers, and make our own version of coleslaw and by 7pm, we were ready to feed the seventy-plus guests with lots of amazing food. Once everyone was completely satisfied, the awards ceremony began and we quietly cleared away and left everyone with full tummies and smiles on their faces.
