With the constant sunshine and seas around the UK becoming as warm as the Med, the beaches have been busier than ever lately. Despite all the usual safety warnings, when the sun comes out, people always take risks in the water and if it wasn’t for the highly trained, brave men and women keeping watch over them as they plunge into the unpredictable coastal waters, it could lead to tragedy. For one group of lifeguards at a particularly popular local beach, that means they have had to extra hard work to ensure everyone stays safe. Their supervisors recognised this and wanted to reward them for the crucial role they play in making the beach a fun, rather than dangerous place to be, so they decided to throw them a party, so the lifeguards could relax and enjoy the beach themselves for once!

Given the location, they were struggling to find a catering company who had the ability to access the beach via the narrow coastal road and be able to cook great food on the sand. Just when they were about to give up and choose a more accessible venue, they came across Hog Roast Portreath’s website and they knew they had found the solution to their catering dilemma! They loved how many great value for money options we had on our private party menus and they opted for a traditional hog roast, accompanied by a refreshing green salad, our homemade creamy coleslaw and seasonal new potatoes.

At first, they couldn’t believe that we would be able to bring ‘all that stuff’ down to the beach and cook a full meal there, but they soon changed their minds when they saw us in action! Thanks to Hog Roast Portreath’s incredibly streamlined set-up and multitasking catering team, ‘all that stuff’ turned out to be one hog roast machine, our compact fold away serving table, 2 members of staff and all of our delicious fresh ingredients of course!

The lifeguards got the treat they deserved in a location they spend a lot of time in but don’t usually have the luxury of being able to enjoy it, and it was obvious how much everyone appreciated the gesture. The party organisers thanked the Hog Roast Portreath team for helping them to make it happen and we loved having the chance to demonstrate that when it comes locations we can cater in, nowhere is out of bounds for us!
