Hog Roast Lizard Taking Over The Annual Company Picnic!
After an incredibly busy and successful year, the MD of a local marketing company decided their 50 staff members deserved a treat, so when they were planning their annual company picnic, they decided to ditch their usual cold sandwiches and soggy salads and hired Hog Roast Lizard instead to provide one of our classy corporate buffets! This decision understandably went down very well with the employees, especially when the director’s PA emailed out the menu choices for the day! Apparently everyone’s mouths were already watering when they saw the treat that awaited them, including tiger prawn, Peking duck and mini pizza canapes, our signature slow roasted pork for the main,…

Summer Hog Roast Saltash BBQ!
It’s been a long, hot and very busy summer for the team at Hog Roast Saltash. With the good weather comes BBQs and it seems as though every weekend and even some week days our chefs have been asked to create the perfect summer barbie! This weekend was no different as we were catering for Kat and Chris’ family BBQ. The couple explained to us over the phone that amongst their friends everyone had been hosting BBQs this summer and it had turned into a bit of a rivalry of who could serve the best sausages or who had the most impressive spread of food. Chris readily admitted he wasn’t…

Hog Roast Hayle Caters A Local Jousting Tournament!
The Hog Roast Hayle team had the opportunity to get back to our medieval roots last week when we were asked to cater for a local Armoury Museum’s annual jousting tournament! It was pointed out to our terribly excited chef that he wouldn’t actually be able to take part and the only implement he would be allowed to brandish would be his trusty carving knife, but he couldn’t wait to see it all the same! It is always a very popular event and the crowds flock to see the trained professionals putting on an impressive display. We were informed by Chris, the museum’s Events Manager, that what wasn’t quite so…

Hog Roast for Bingo on the Beach!
With the hot weather seemingly going on forever, people want to eat, drink and be merry outside in the sunshine, rather than being cooped up in a stuffy pub or restaurant. Whilst this has been great news for publican Ruby’s seaside beer garden, it has also caused a decline in attendance for her weekly quiz and bingo nights, which always take place indoors. With the pub being as empty as the Marie Celeste on her last bingo night in particular, she decided she needed to host it outdoors where all her patrons wanted to be! With the beach being so close, she thought it would be a great idea to…

Hog Roast Looe for a Detective Themed 40th Birthday Party!
There were deer stalkers, trench coats and cloche hats aplenty last weekend, when Hog Roast Looe catered for Alison’s detective themed 40th birthday bash! Alison had been a lifelong fan of whodunnits, especially Agatha Christie, so for her milestone birthday she decided to pay homage to her favourite fictional heroes and villains by basing her celebration around this theme! The Hog Roast Looe team are certainly no strangers to catering of fancy dress and themed parties, but this was the first time we had the honour of cooking for Sherlock Holmes, Columbo and Hercules Poirot at the same time! The birthday girl herself came as her favourite Miss Marple and…

Graduation Party Hog Roast for a Mature Student!
It’s that time of year when all the studying and the stress of the big final year exams is over. For one student in particular, graduating from university with a 2:1 in Economics was a dream come true because it had taken her so long to achieve it! Karen had to give up university the first time around after falling pregnant with her first child, and it had taken her another 25 years before she was able to get back on campus! With her the full support of her husband Mark and their daughters Molly and Lucy, Karen finally achieved her dream of gaining her degree, and they all felt…

End Of Term Party, Celebrated With A Hog Roast
With the whole world seemingly obsessed with taking selfies and snapping everything that moves on their camera phones, it was nice for Hog Roast Padstow to meet a group of people who still consider photography to be an art form! We were asked to cater for the end of term party for a local photography class, whose teacher still believes in teaching her students how to do it the old-fashioned way, including how to create their own lighting effects manually before taking the photo, instead of digitally editing it afterwards, and they even have their own dark room to develop their photographs themselves! We were all very excited to see the…

Hog Roast Portreath for Heroic Lifeguards!
With the constant sunshine and seas around the UK becoming as warm as the Med, the beaches have been busier than ever lately. Despite all the usual safety warnings, when the sun comes out, people always take risks in the water and if it wasn’t for the highly trained, brave men and women keeping watch over them as they plunge into the unpredictable coastal waters, it could lead to tragedy. For one group of lifeguards at a particularly popular local beach, that means they have had to extra hard work to ensure everyone stays safe. Their supervisors recognised this and wanted to reward them for the crucial role they play…

Hog Roast for a Battle Re-enactment In Falmouth!
The plucky Hog Roast Falmouth team found ourselves catering in the middle of a battlefield recently, which proves beyond any doubt that we really can cook anywhere! It wasn’t the first time we had been there either- for the third year running we had been asked to provide one of our traditional hog roasts for the annual re-enactment of a famous local battle! Whereas once it was the scene of bloodshed, today it is all in good fun and a way for local history buffs to make sure people never forget their heritage. The re-enactment society first contacted us 3 years ago because they wanted to provide food for all…

Hog Roast Looe for a Garden Centre Open Day
Helen and Brian started out selling a few plants on a market stall 10 years ago and since then they have gone on to achieve their dream of opening their own garden centre, which has expanded over the years to include a café selling organic food. They had started having monthly events at the garden centre and wanted to attract people to hire their café and its pleasant outdoor area for private parties and corporate events. They wanted to organise an event to advertise their venue with a view to hiring it out on a regular basis. They didn’t just want to hire any old catering company though, because they…
